Summary
THE number of Scottish companies experiencing recruitment difficulties in the manufacturing and construction sectors has continued to rise despite efforts to improve training and skills over the past four years.
In the Scottish Chambers of Commerce's latest quarterly business survey, more than 63-per cent of construction firms reported problems in finding skilled manual workers - compared with 40-per cent during the same quarter in 2001 - 37-per cent found difficulties in recruiting technical staff (21-per cent in 2001), and 32-per cent had problems attracting professional/managerial staff (23-per cent in 2001).See the full content of this document
