BBC Scotland's news and current affairs boss Blair Jenkins used a festive email to remind his journalists how productive they had been this year, although it had more to do with input than output. Apparently Queen Margaret Drive staff managed to "produce" 21 weans last year. If the rest of the nation could just match his staff then maybe Scotland wouldn't have a declining population and the Beeb wouldn't have a dwindling audience, Jenkins must have thought.

Ian Fraser was forced to run his Rosyth-based business from Australia for three months after his wife Kirsti gave birth 10-weeks' premature while they were on a short business trip to Sydney.
