Cardinal: Haiti Situation 'Frightening'

SCOTLAND'S most senior Catholic, Cardinal Keith O'Brien, spoke yesterday of his shock at seeing the devastation on Haiti a year on from the massive earthquake, and said the world had still to appreciate the full scale of the disaster.

The Cardinal arrived on the Caribbean island on Friday with Paul Chitnis, chief executive of the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund, and will visit SCIAF-funded projects including temporary camps, where he will meet survivors and aid workers.
