A NEW survey finding that 55per cent of Scots believe private companies should be allowed to provide public services has been held up by CBI Scotland as proof that quality of services matters more than who provides them in the eyes of the public.

The survey by the CBI and YouGov showed that while Scotland was the most hostile of the UK regions to private provision of public services, with 10per cent more opposing this than respondents in London, a clear majority nevertheless approved of government use of private companies to deliver public services.
