CHILDREN coping with the break up of traditional family life in Scotland are being left "dangerously vulnerable" because they have no support at times of crisis, according to a new study.

The authors of the Cool With Change report interviewed 361 young people between 10 and 14 years old about their experiences of family change.

The three-year study which is being published on Tuesday provides a rare insight into how they deal with the break-up of marriage; maintain relationships with absent parents and form friendships with step-brothers and step-sisters as families move away from the traditional unit.
