IMAGINE for a moment that the final day of The Open was not televised. Assuming you are one of the millions of golf fans understandably determined to savour the delicious, unfolding drama of the most prestigious tournament of them all, how the hell would you go about it?

The answer is you couldn't. You would have to write off this year's Open, and read about it in tomorrow's newspapers while mourning the fact that the meat of it had passed you by.
