MORE than 10,000 health workers in Scotland have rejected new salary grades under the biggest pay and conditions shake-up in NHS history.

The Agenda for Change package, introduced three years ago, was designed to review the salaries and job descriptions of all medical staff as part of a programme for a fairer pay structure.

But an investigation by the Sunday Herald has revealed that more than 10,000 requests for review have so far been lodged by workers in Scotland who are unhappy at the bandings awarded by health boards. That represents 8-per cent of the 130,000 Scottish NHS workers covered by the revised system.
