Summary
NEIL LENNON has told Scott Brown's critics to get off his back and insisted the club need his return in order to negotiate their way through the difficult festive period. The Celtic captain is set to appear in the starting line-up against St Johnstone today for the first time since injuring his ankle at Rugby Park on October 2, and Lennon believes Brown's drive will be badly needed to inspire a side who have drawn their last three home matches and must travel to Ibrox on January 2 without the injured Gary Hooper and Shaun Maloney, and unavailable Ki Sung-Yeung and Cha Du-Ri.
"He is an influential player on the pitch and off it," Lennon said. "I've said before that the criticism aimed at him was totally unreasonable. His performances were very good and he was really starting to show what he can do. He scored a goal against Hibs and then he picked up the injury. He has worked ever so hard in the two or three months he has been out and he is an amazing athlete for a footballer. He has come back a lot quicker than your average player would have. We are going to need him in this period and I think people should start getting off his back and let him get on with his football.See the full content of this document
