IT captured the youth music scene by hosting the MTV Europe Music Awards last year. Now Edinburgh is also set to become the centre of world music - ethnically influenced composition that is neither pop nor classical.
Artists such as Ibrahim Ferrer and DJ Dolores will converge on the city later this year when the capital hosts the prestigious Awards For World Music. The city saw off competition from other international capitals to secure the awards, run by BBC Radio 3 and to be held at the Usher Hall next month.
