These six-monthly European summits are becoming increasingly like reality TV. They're all about real politicians behaving badly on screen. We should start calling it Big Brussels. It used to be quite fun, what with the late-night squabbles and reconciliations. But now it's all becoming a bit tawdry and sick, as the contestants resort to exhibitionism and tempers get out of hand.

Really, it's a disgrace should be taken off the air. Well, perhaps now it will be. For if this Euro-summit has proved anything, it is the need for a proper constitution for Europe.

It just can't go on like this, with 25 nations all trying to get one over each other, acting tough, showing off to their domestic audiences. The Big Brussels house needs to be shut for good.

It's not really the politicians' fault, any more than you can blame the addled housemates...
