IT has been said that the optimism of sports fans knows no bounds, but followers of Edinburgh and Glasgow have had their spirits tested to the limit over a season in which the two teams appear to have been hurtling backwards at a rate of knots.
The Magners League campaigns of both sides came to a predictably shabby ending on Friday evening with two away defeats, Edinburgh losing 31-6 to Treviso and Glasgow going down 38-3 to Leinster.
