ALASTAIR Forsyth heads an encouraging Scottish charge into today's final round of the 3 Irish Open behind Irish amateur Shane Lowry, who surprisingly leads jointly with Englishman Robert Rock and refused to be blown off course as high winds suspended play for five hours and sent scores soaring.

The 33-year-old Glasgowbased Scot, twice a winner on the European Tour, is riding a wave of rising confidence having had three top-10 finishes in his last four outings, is now lying joint fourth on the fickle County Louth links and has straightened out his tee shots which had been tending towards the left.
