WHEN Scotland's second dedicated Gaelic school opened in Inverness in January, following the success of the first in Glasgow, it highlighted a startling anomaly the Western Isles, heartland of the language and home of the greatest concentration of Gaelic- speakers, has no such specific facility.
Now parents and Gaelic organisations are beginning to argue for such a school in the area, with some educationalists calling the disparity between Gaelic education in Glasgow, at the Glasgow Gaelic School, and the Western Isles "bonkers", while others are openly critical about the area's provision for Gaelic education.See the full content of this document
