HARRY Benson has lived in New York for almost half a century. When he moved there in 1964, he was returning to a spiritual home of sorts, having been a lifelong fan of American movies and musicals.
According to family legend, he was conceived in Brooklyn, while his Scottish parents were considering emigrating to the States in the late 1920s.
