THE race for third place in the Scottish Premierleague, and the Uefa Cup prize it carries, won't be won or lost today but a draw will not be a good outcome for either Dundee United or Hibs. That has been the result of the first three league games between the sides, but the same scenario at Tannadice this afternoon will only suit Motherwell.

United and Hibs went into the weekend on 50 points, two behind Mark McGhee's side who will also have two games in hand tonight. But just as Celtic's win against Rangers on Wednesday night opened up the title race again, the battle behind them could go to the last day as well.
