Summary

Scotland's junior teams recorded contrasting victories yesterday on the second day of the U21 Celtic Cup tournaments at the Chris Anderson Stadium in Aberdeen.

In the women's game, the Scots simply swamped France with a tidal wave of attacking play. The inspiration was the Bonagrass Grove midfielder Vicky Bunce, player of the match, whose runs at pace paved the way for chance after chance. Catriona Forrest got the first three goals. The Glasgow Western youngster converted the first of three penalty strokes with a high flick, deflected in a Julie Kilpatrick penalty corner strike and, in the second half, slotted away another penalty stroke which had been provoked by Bunce. Bunce herself then took the direct route to goal from another corner, and Kilpatrick made it a nap hand after a great move involving half of the Scottish team, finishing with a fierce, low shot to make it 5- 0. After Friday's 1-1 draw with Wales, however, the Scots now have to await today's game between Wales and France to find out if they've retained their trophy.
