Hundreds of academics, politicians and entrepreneurs gathered at the Tipping Point conference last Thursday to discuss methods of coaxing Scotland into embracing a more positive frame of mind. The Centre for Confidence and Well-Being was formally ushered into the national spotlight and blessed with Pounds750,000 in operating funds from a variety of public and private sources. Its aim? Nothing less than to effect a fundamental change upon Scottish culture, ushering in a new era of confidence and optimism that the organisers deem crucial if the country is to flourish in the modern world.
