HOMECOMING? What homecoming? To be perfectly frank, it would overstate Falkirk's familiarity with Hampden Park to describe them as even irregular visitors to the stadium, so home doesn't really come into it. All things considered, it would take the creative talents of the most imaginatively avaricious MP to make the case that they have any sort of residential connection with the place.

That much was obvious to anyone watching their supporters muster in the warren of streets to the east of the ground before the cup final. Rangers fans could probably fi nd their way to Hampden blindfolded, but the novelty of the whole experience for the Falkirk lot was all too comically obvious as they blundered this way and that, and cars bedecked in their colours executed hasty U-turns down cul-de-sacs in a frantic effort to reach their destination.
