WHEN rumours started swirling around Edinburgh on Friday that Craig Levein was in the frame for the managerial vacancy at Blackburn Rovers, the parlous situation at Tynecastle really hit home. Hearts are a club split asunder, with only their outstanding manager keeping the financially struck ship afloat.

The speculation could hardly have come at a worse time.
