Summary
THE MacDonald brothers are headed towards the X Factor final, thanks to their nemesis, Simon Cowell eating his words last night when he said the duo were "very good" after their performance.
Craig, 19, and Brian, 20, breathed a sigh of relief after enduring seven weeks of humiliating tongue lashings by Cowell. After singing The Proclaimers' hit Five Hundred Miles, fellow judges Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh were on their feet applauding the brothers while Cowell remained seated. As they braced themselves for a torrent of put-downs, Cowell told the brothers: "I'm going to hate myself for this. That was very good." Osbourne agreed, saying: "That performance itself should see you into the final." After nearly two million viewers voted, presenter Kate Thornton announced the MacDonald brothers were the first contestants to make it through to next week's round.See the full content of this document
