A STROKE on the right side of your brain affects the motor functions on the left side of your body, and vice versa. If you're lucky, you might only suffer one or two attacks, and die promptly. If you're not, you might be struck seven times or more, leaving your speech so severely impaired that you can only form a word which sounds something like "f***".

This, as Billy Connolly explains in his usual discursive detail, is what happened to his father. And at the time, William Connolly Snr was only slightly older than his son is now. This is the Big Yin's first full tour around Scotland for many years, and it's called Too Old To Die Young because if Connolly has anything new to talk about, it's mortality.
