THE Scottish Executive has been accused by top legal figures of perpetuating the "national disgrace" of neglecting victims of miscarriages of justice after they are freed from jail.

In an unprecedented step, Baroness Helena Kennedy QC, Michael Mansfield QC and civil rights solicitor Gareth Peirce have written to the Miscarriages of Justice Organisation Scotland (Mojo) to throw their weight behind its bid to create a residential retreat that would provide support and counselling to wrongly convicted prisoners.
