LEADING pubs group JD Wetherspoon, which has just snapped up its 11th site in Glasgow, will celebrate a return to underlying sales growth on Thursday when chairman Tim Martin is due to roll out news of a near 40% jump in annual profits to around the pound(s)72 million mark.

The figures are going to gain from an anticipated 4.5% increase in total sales as a result of new openings, although business in the group's established bars only returned to genuine like-for-like growth in the early summer after the company introduced 7am openings to serve coffee at 49p a cup.
