AT this time of year you can't help noticing that spring has well and truly sprung. After a slow start, lush green hues have returned to the countryside, crops are burgeoning, the lambing season is all but over and all seems to be well in the world. The season's looking good right across the countryside - but as far as the price of food is concerned the reality is rather different. Grocery bills have started emptying purses and wallets and even staples such as bread and butter have shot up in price.
And it's not just in this country that people are feeling the pinch. This is a global phenomenon and inevitably those most affected by it are those who can least afford to tighten their belts. All over the world food scarcity is becoming a real problem as supplies dwindle and prices increase.
