THE Irish broadcaster Setanta came of age when it picked up a third of the main broadcast rights for the English Premiership for pounds-392 million on Friday.

While this is a pretty penny for 138 football games over three seasons pounds-2.8m per game to be precise it is probably still a small price to pay to break the 12-year monopoly that has propelled BSkyB comfortably into the FTSE 100.
