NICOLA Sturgeon, the SNP leader at Holyrood, has not "ruled out" taking a break from the front line of politics if the Nationalists fail to become the party of government following next year's Scottish elections.

In an interview with the Sunday Herald, 35-year-old Sturgeon said she believed that the SNP would win the 2007 elections and she would become a minister in a new Executive led by Alex Salmond, who is set to return to Edinburgh next year.
