CRAIG Brown had to contend with no fewer than 12 call-offs and a disputed penalty shoot-out defeat to Berti Vogts' West Germany side the last time Scotland appeared in an Under-20 World Cup, but 20 years on, he still believes Archie Gemmill and TommyWilson's squad can go on to big things in Canada this summer.

The Scots begin their Group F campaign in Victoria this evening against Japan, and Brown has a hunch that the technically gifted Asian nation may struggle to live with a Scotland squad that for once has the physique to complement their ability.
