BBC Scotland canned plans for a Scottish Six after a five-year internal battle which was played out on the media pages. But, just months after reaching its final, final decision, news from its main rival may force it into yet another re-consideration.

The debate about whether Scotland's television news providers should go it alone and break away from London control for a Scotland- based news programme combining regional, national and international news reignited last week after a speech given by a senior news executive at SMG's Scottish (STV).
