I WAS in Cumbria to give a talk at the Keswick Mountain Festival and couldn't think of a better warm-up to the event than a wander over the fells that lie to the south-east of Ullswater.
From my home in Badenoch it's an astonishing fact that I can reach the Lake District fells in about the same time as it takes me to reach the hills of the far north-west of Scotland.
