ONLY at the most literal level could Frank Hadden's journey from the ramshackle offices of the Edinburgh Gunners to his new accommodation inside Murrayfield Stadium be considered a short one. When he strolled those few yards on Thursday afternoon to sign the contract that installed him as Scotland's new coach, Hadden was more than well aware he was making one of the biggest leaps in sport.
The buildings themselves provided an acceptable metaphor for the scale of the switch. The single-storey Edinburgh offices have a certain gimcrack charm, but not enough to disguise their origins as the sort of glorified potting sheds in which building workers take their teabreaks, while Murrayfield stands as one of the city's most majestic landmarks, bold and distinctive and still, a decade since its spectacular refurbishment, the largest sporting arena in the country.See the full content of this document
