Fresh criticism has been levelled at Glasgow City Council over plans to site a giant ferris wheel in George Square during the summer months.

Pete Irvine, of Unique Events, organiser of Edinburgh's Hogmanay and the Burns An' A' That festival, has slammed the idea as tantamount to "trashing George Square", while the organiser of a new festival on Glasgow's riverside has made a plea for the giant wheel to be given a Clydeside location.
